Since I heard the news of Steve's disappearance yesterday I have been very troubled.
Prof. de Gruchy for those who don't was the the head of the UKZN religion and theology department.
From news I heard last night he was still missing and they were continuing the search in the Mooi river today.
A relaxed weekend away with the family has turned into a nightmare as he was supposedly knocked off his tube whilst 'tubing' the river.
I did not know Steve very well, but I know his wife Marian from a book club Anne and I attend.
It is a terrible loss in all ways.
All our love to the family,
David

Thanks David. Please let Marian know that many friends across the country and overseas are praying for her, Steve and the family as news has spread via Facebook since yesterday morning.
The thoughts of the Honey family of Stellenbosch are with Steve's family. Hester, Victor and Marisa
Carola is right - people from way back in Steve's life are praying for that miracle of miracles, but in our hearts we know that he's probably strumming his guitar in Heaven already. From me, an old and good friend, and from some of the staff at SACS (his old school), our thoughts and our prayers are very much with his family.
